Billing
Provider to Support 2.5 and 3G Mobile Services |
24th January 2003 |
Gary Burch ( inset ) , vice president and managing director of CSG's Europe, Middle East and Africa region, outines more below. Under the agreement with CSG, sunrise will replace its existing GSM billing system and will deploy CSG Kenan/BP to support its 500,000 mobile post paid customers. In addition, sunrise will use pre-integrated features within the CSG Kenan/BP billing platform to support its mobile roaming and threshold needs. sunrise currently uses CSG Kenan/BP to support more than 800,000 residential wireline customers. In just five years, sunrise has evolved as a leading service provider in Switzerland. sunrise was formed in January 2001 through a merger of sunrise (which offered fixed network and Internet products and services) and diAx, a mobile phone network operator. The merger resulted in the formation of TDC Switzerland AG and the company now operates under the sunrise brand, offering voice, data and multi-media services over fixed and mobile networks to business and residential markets. sunrise decided that it wanted a common billing platform that could support the billing needs for any of the services it rolled out to the Swiss market across its existing GSM and GPRS networks, as well as the new UMTS network, for which sunrise holds a license. In the future, CSG Kenan® Threshold Server will support sunrise's transaction-based account balance maintenance. By monitoring any type of usage against pre-specified usage limits, or thresholds, CSG Kenan Threshold Server enables sunrise customers to manage their accounts by accessing real- time usage information, thus reducing call volume into call centers and increasing customer satisfaction. In addition, CSG Kenan Threshold Server enables sunrise to leverage a growing -- but untapped -- need for more customers looking to closely manage their spending on services. sunrise also will deploy the CSG Kenan® Roaming module, which enables operators to keep the roaming business under control. With CSG Kenan Roaming, sunrise will be able to offer market-leading services. Through its use of current roaming standards, sunrise also will be equipped with the functionality to capitalize on emerging revenue-generating opportunities. By using flexible modules within the CSG Kenan/BP architecture, providers like sunrise can create their own solution to meet their needs in any telecommunications market. "CSG offers a robust and proven billing platform that will not only support sunrise's customer base today, but will evolve with the new services we plan to launch through our networks in a scalable and cost effective manner," said Simon Pasquier, IT Billing Director, sunrise. "CSG's suite of Kenan billing solutions bring to sunrise the capabilities we need to support our customers and quickly launch new revenue-generating services. In addition, by tapping into CSG Kenan's suite of pre-integrated features within the billing platform, sunrise expects to reduce the amount of time and integration complexity it takes to support future sophisticated requirements." "With nearly 50 mobile customers worldwide, CSG offers the proven solutions that providers like sunrise need to increase revenues and profitability from new and innovative mobile services," said Gary Burch, vice president and managing director of CSG's Europe, Middle East and Africa region. "With our pre-integrated solutions, sunrise will realize a rapid time to market benefit that will allow it to quickly launch new services over advanced networks." CSG Kenan/BP is a real-time billing platform that rates and bills for any service in the mobile and wireline telephony, cable/satellite and IP markets. With a worldwide customer base, the CSG Kenan/BP solution supports any language in any currency and is deployed in more than 40 countries.
