Ice Hockey Goes Wireless |

Thanks to Sonera’s SM-liiga results service, Sonera’s mobile phone customers receive real-time information on their own mobile phones about events and scores of games played in the SM-liiga rounds. The results service also provides the team line-ups for individual games and the official SM-liiga games schedule as well as the series table and player cards with statistical information. In addition, by changing the visual image of the service, customers can flaunt their favourite team’s colours on the phone’s display when using the service. The service reports in real time on the events that take place in the rinks during a round: goals scored and assists credited as well as penalties assessed. This means that users can follow, on their mobile phones, the score of games that simultaneously are being played in different parts of Finland: the goals made in Tampere and the penalties assessed in Oulu. The player cards, in turn, offer basic information as well as updateable statistics about the players, for instance about goal scorers. The player-specific statistics show the points for goals, assists, penalties and shots on goal that a player has scored, as well as his total points scored. The service will be complemented with new features as the ice hockey season progresses. The results service operates on all mobile phones with WAP browsers, but the best experience of the service is received on new colour display handsets such as Nokia 7650 and 3510i or SonyEricsson T68i. The results service can be accessed via Sonera’s WAP menus at the addresses wap.sonera.net > uusimmat > sm-liiga tulospalvelu and wap.mspace.fi. It is a good idea to save the results service as a bookmark in your phone’s memory as this will facilitate and speed up the use of the service. The SM-liiga results service does not require separate registration, but is available to all Sonera mobile phone customers. No connection or monthly charge is collected for the service. Service users only pay the data transfer charge. |
