LG Optimus Vu Officially Unveiled

The LG Optimus Vu was leaked earlier in the month and it has now been officially confirmed by LG.

The Optimus Vu is a hybrid device that follows the mould set by the Samsung Galaxy Note, which was one of the surprise hits of 2011.

Just like the Galaxy Note , the Optimus Vu  sits somewhere between a tablet and a smartphone with the 5 inch touch-screen being neither large enough to clasifiy it as a tablet nor small enough to be a smartphone.

The 5 inch touch-screen has an aspect ratio of 4:3 (1024*768) which LG claims makes reading documents, books , browsing the web and watching multi-media files easier and more comfortable. It also has In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology,  which ensures wider viewing angles and better colour reproduction.

Powering the LG Optimus Vu is a mighty 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor which works alongside 1GB of RAM to provide an amazing amount of power for gaming, multi-tasking and browsing. On-board memory comes in at 32GB , which should be more than enough to store your files !

The camera on the Optimus Vu also doesn't let you down because its an 8 mega-pixel snapper with an LED Flash, while you also get a front-facing 1.3 mega-pixel camera for video calling. Other key features include support for LTE, which is currently unavailable in the UK, as well as DLNA and HDMI!

On launch the LG Optimus Vu will run on Android Gingerbread, but will be updated to Android Ice Cream Sandwich shortly after launch. The Optimus VU will launch in LG's native Korea in March and will be showcased at MWC at the end of the month when more details will be unveiled.
