Samsung has announced Bada 2.0 for its smartphone operating system.
Samsung first hinted at bada 2.0 back in December last year and gave an outline of what was coming at that time. A few months earlier, Samsung confirmed that it had hit over 15 million downloads via the Samsung app store.
Looking at bada 2.0 Samsung says it brings multitasking, Web applications including HTML 5 and WAC, support for Near Field Communication (NFC) and voice recognition. There is also 3D sound and a personalized lock-screen which adds to the user experience.
The announcement was made at the recent bada development day when JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung's Mobile Communications Business, said "We are delighted with the success of the original bada platform, which was launched at MWC last year. We have looked to build on this with bada 2.0 by creating a versatile and robust platform capable of continuing the success of its predecessor".
bada 2.0 also comes equipped with a new and improved Software Development Kit (SDK), opening up the platform to more developers working across different PC operating systems.
