Europe : Ixia announced today new capabilities of its IxMobile 3G telephony test solution that allow both wireless handset and media gateway manufacturers to test interoperability with key codecs used in fixed mobile convergence and 3G video telephony applications. Validated to support test cases selected by the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and the PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB), IxMobile now adds GSM-AMR-WB and H.264 to its extensive library of supported codecs to help equipment vendors ensure compliance with video telephony requirements and enable service providers to evaluate, validate and configure handsets prior to deployment. Additional functionality introduced to IxMobile includes integrated RF measurements, subjective audio and video media quality metrics to measure network impact on calls.

IxMobile is an easy-to-use, out-of-the-box operational test platform that emulates video telephony terminals communicating with handsets under test for protocol analysis, conformance and interoperability testing. Designed to be run with a high degree of automation, IxMobile allows users to be up and running quickly with the ability to configure individual test case pass/fail criteria, group the test cases into campaigns, and then schedule the campaigns to run. Test results are customizable to a user-defined level of detail and stored in user-defined areas. Automated reports are generated for the entire test as well as for any failures. This high degree of automation enables more efficient use of lab resources and productivity gains.

Wireless handset manufacturers use IxMobile to develop and test 3G video applications, while network operators use IxMobile for handset interoperability testing and acceptance as well as video telephony network optimization, to continually assess and improve quality of experience for their customers.
