US / Taiwan : Ecrio released its IP Multi-Media Subsystem (IMS) client software has been selected for deployment by ASUSTeK Computer Inc. The software, which includes OMA-compliant Instant Messaging (IM), VideoShare, Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) and 3GPP-compliant Voice over IP (VoIP) with Voice Call Continuity (VCC) solutions, will first be deployed in Taiwan on ASUS mobile phones.
We evaluated the offerings and capabilities of several IMS client vendors, then selected Ecrio for its complete, commercially deployed and easily portable foundation," said Alex Sun, Vice President of ASUSTeK's Mobile Communication Business Unit. "The Ecrio IMS platform and suite of real time communication engines, including Presence, IM, Videoshare, PoC and VoIP, will quickly allow us to launch exciting new services on advanced networks. As important, Ecrio software has been successfully deployed on millions of handsets worldwide -- so we were confident launching here in Taiwan."
ASUSTeK has focused on delivering phones using the Windows Mobile platform, which made Ecrio a natural choice. Ecrio's products are available for feature phones and smart phones on native OS (i.e. Nucleus and REX) as well as Windows Mobile and Symbian OS. The February 12 - 15 3GSM event, with attendees from a worldwide base of wireless operators, provides an ideal showcase for the combination of Ecrio applications running on ASUS handsets. "It is a huge vote of confidence for ASUSTek, a leading handset vendor, to select Ecrio's IMS solutions," said Nagesh Challa, President, and CEO of Ecrio. "Ecrio is committed to providing open, interoperable and standard-compliant client software, for the rapid deployment of new services on advanced networks. We are confident that other operators and handset manufacturers will follow the lead of Ecrio customers NTT DoCoMo, ASUSTek and more."
