Europe : MetaSolv
Software,announced the release of Mediation 5, MetaSolv's carrier-class
mediation application designed for multi-service 3G wireless, IP,
VoIP and traditional voice networks. The Mediation 5 release delivers
key enhancements that enable mobile and fixed line operators to support
revenue assurance and enable IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) deployments.
Mediation 5 provides
the ability to support service provider's revenue assurance processes
-- enabling the detection, correction and assurance that all billable
activities are accurately captured, rated and billed. Mediation 5
also provides significant capability to support IMS deployments --
a critical component in enabling next-generation IP services and fixed-mobile
convergence. MetaSolv's mediation solution is embedded as part of
a major network equipment manufacturer's IMS solution offering and
is currently in trial with a Tier 1 mobile service provider.
MetaSolv mediation
enables multi-service revenue generation over both fixed and mobile
networks supporting a variety of services including voice, VoIP, data
and IPTV. This solution provides productized support for leading hardware
and application vendors including Cisco, Ericsson, Nortel and Microsoft
and is deployed at over 30 communications services providers worldwide
including tier one operators such as mobilkom, O2 and T-Mobile.
With this release,
MetaSolv mediation provides essential features and value required
by operators as they transition their network to support advanced
services, including:
-- A convergent
solution for 3G networks, with extensive support for data, voice,
and content-based services. Mediation provides the 3GPP Charging Gateway
Function (CGF) for GSM/GPRS/UMTS/IMS networks, plus goes beyond the
basic CGF with extensive record processing features and the flexibility
to be tailored to customer's requirements.
-- Triple-Play
solutions that enable an operator to deploy and charge for next generation
IP-based voice and multimedia services. Subscriber services can be
priced to help a carrier differentiate their offerings, including
flat rate, tiered and usage-based pricing.
-- The flexibility
to support operators as they deploy pre-IMS solutions and migrate
to standards-based IMS networks. Operators can minimize the impact
of network and service churn on their existing upstream billing and
network infrastructure.
-- Revenue assurance
features that target the mediation process to ensure no CDRs are lost,
reducing revenue leakage. Detailed statistics are captured and reported,
plus extensive monitoring ensures potential problems are detected
so they can be addressed before becoming resulting in a financial
impact.
-- Extensibility
through the MetaSolv's cartridge-based approach. Mediation leverages
cartridges for collection, processing and distribution of records.
Pre-built network hardware and service cartridges ensure rapid deployment,
while also providing extensibility though simple GUI-based configuration
and rules-based modification.
"As service
providers rapidly deploy IMS features such as instant messaging, push-to-talk
and VoIP, Mediation 5 provides a multi-service, multi-vendor solution
that enables them to rapidly realize revenue and speed time to market,
leading to a faster return on their investment," said David Sharpley,
senior vice-president of marketing and product management at MetaSolv.
