O2 Selects Platform for 2G/3G WAN and WLANs

Europe. : Tatara Systems announced its selection by O2 UK to deliver mobile business solutions. Tatara's Mobile Services Convergence Platform will be used to enable compelling and integrated product offerings to business professionals across networks including, GPRS, 3G, and Wireless LAN. This allows O2 to continue to expand its service portfolio while ensuring a simple, secure, and intuitive user experience when connecting to the fastest available wireless technology.

As a platform, Tatara's technology offers O2 tremendous flexibility to support a variety of devices and services. This includes a Windows Mobile Pocket PC client running on dual mode (3G/ Wi-Fi) fully integrated devices, such as the popular O2-branded Xda II, which is a lightweight, voice-enabled PDA that supports email, web, video, camera, music and games. Additionally this device offers a range of Microsoft Office software tools to enable mobile professionals to be productive while on the move. Tatara's platform, including the Tatara Subscriber Gateway, also ensures investment protection as new networks, such as HSDPA, and new converged mobile services become important to O2's subscriber base.

Immediately Tatara's technology provides O2 UK with SIM-based authentication capabilities, enabling O2's Xda subscribers to benefit from a highly secure and simple user experience on 2G/ 3G WAN networks and across O2's various Wi-Fi 'hotspot' locations, including sites operated by roaming partners such as The Cloud and BT Openzone.
