: Agilent Technologies announced the release of the first commercially
available pre-conformance test system that supports High-Speed Downlink
Packet Access test cases (3GPP TS 34.121). HSDPA is the 3.5G, packet-based
data service added to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP)
Release 5 to improve the W-CDMA downlink.
The Agilent GS-8800
RF pre-conformance test system enables cellular-phone design engineers
to perform early RF design verification to meet a wide range of development
needs. In addition to HSDPA, the test system supports other cellular
technologies, such as W-CDMA, GSM/GPRS, EGPRS, cdmaOne/CDMA2000 and
1xEV-DO. As a result, cellular designers can be confident that their
test platform is confirmed and continuously updated for the suite
of test cases for UMTS devices.
Traditionally, cellular
design teams have been comprised of smaller design teams that work
on the design's different modules, such as the transceiver or receiver.
With its extensive flexibility, the GS-8800 RF pre-conformance test
system easily supports all members of the design team. Its ability
to scale the hardware and software platforms provides just the right
test for each design team. Similarly, customers can easily upgrade
their GS-8800 RF Pre-Conformance platform to future technologies,
or to the full conformance test system, with hardware and software
upgrade options.
The Agilent GS-8800 RF
Pre-Conformance Test System is a GCF-certified test platform for UMTS
devices. Software release 1.7a provides HSDPA RF test cases for section
5.2A, 5.9A, 5.10A and 6.3A.
