: Comsys Communication and Signal Processing, a leader in baseband
solutions for emerging cellular markets, unveils UEware(TM), an
integrated baseband solution that supports UMTS and EDGE. The solution
is aimed at chipset vendors and devie manufacturers and offers accelerated
time to market for new multimode 2.5G and 3G mobile devices.
The
UEware multimode baseband solution supports UMTS voice and data,
GSM voice, E/GPRS multi-slot Class 12, Type II multimode, Dual Transfer
Mode (DTM) and future HSDPA. It combines low resource consumption
and flexible operation with outstanding receiver performance and
offers easy integration with any UMTS platform and protocol stack.
Its scalable architecture and standard interfaces reduce R&D
cost and time to market for chipset vendors and device manufacturers.
Because of the
heavy infrastructure investment required, UMTS connectivity is still
limited to certain areas. Device manufacturers offering UEware-based
handsets will be able to deliver a higher quality of service to
their end users, by also enabling them to use existing EDGE infrastructure,
with high speed data services at up to 384 Kbps for video, audio
and voice applications.
Elkana Ben-Sinai,
Comsys CEO commented, "UEware-based chipsets will enable silicon
designers to address the emerging trend towards multimode connectivity
by supporting seamless communication across 2.5G and 3G networks.
Chipset vendors can be confident that UEware will deliver a proven
baseband solution for UMTS/EDGE/GPRS and GSM connectivity, reducing
their cost and time to market while increasing performance over
multimode connections."
