: GoRemote Internet Communications further extended its leadership
in delivering managed secure remote access solutions by unveiling
the world's largest and most comprehensive secure wireless access
network. GoRemote is the first to offer a single solution for mobile
users to obtain secure remote connectivity using virtually any type
of wireless access, including free Wi-Fi hotspots, in-flight Wi-Fi,
cellular and 3G.
This
solution, called GoRemote Mobile Office Revolution, is the successor
to the GoRemote Mobile Office solution. GoRemote Revolution will
provide business professionals the most efficient and secure way
to remain productive while away from the office, and enables IT
and finance departments to better control access to sensitive corporate
data and manage remote access costs.
"The
enterprise has expanded well beyond the office, with more than 100
million mobile workers in the U.S. alone relying on a multitude
of wireless access methods to remain connected and productive,"
said Mark Winther, group vice president at IDC. "By securing
a wide array of access methods from free Wi-Fi and cellular to 3G
and in-flight Wi-Fi, GoRemote is ushering in a new era in secure
mobile access -- turning all wireless access into an enterprise-class
offering. GoRemote's solution dramatically expands the boundaries
of the mobile enterprise and allows it to cost effectively provide
the most comprehensive, secure wireless access network available."
To
reduce the cost, complexity and risks of remote access while boosting
productivity, GoRemote is providing the following enhancements to
its existing services.
First
Aggregation of Free Wi-Fi Plus Value-Added Services
Industry
experts confirm that the number of free Wi-Fi access points is expanding
much faster than the number of fee-based access points. Many reputable
businesses are now offering free Wi-Fi connectivity as a service
for their customers. The fact that these connections are not always
secure does not stop employees from using them to access corporate
resources.
GoRemote
is the first to offer a solution that will secure access to corporate
networks via free Wi-Fi access points, and also provide several
value-added features:
--
Offline Wi-Fi access directory includes the locations of thousands
of free Wi-Fi hotspots, allowing remote users to find their nearest
Wi-Fi access points.
--
Rating system for free Wi-Fi access points provides an indicator
of connection quality.
--
Connection security mechanisms including 802.1x, IPSec VPN integration,
strong authentication, application-centric firewall, host integrity
checking, and automatic policy enforcement and remediation, provide
end-to-end connection security and peace of mind.
--
Remote access auditing assists corporate finance and IT departments
in documenting and auditing their internal controls over remote
access to assist with regulatory compliance.
"Panera
Bread (Nasdaq: PNRA) is the largest provider of free Wi-Fi Internet
access in the United States with 575 bakery-cafes in 30 states currently
offering the free service to our customers," said Panera Bread
Chief Marketing Officer Michael Markowitz. "We are firmly committed
to providing free broadband wireless Internet access as a convenient
and reliable service to customers in our existing bakery-cafes,
as well as our new locations. Panera is excited about solutions
such as those offered by
GoRemote that provide added convenience for our customers and potential
customers to securely access their networks and applications."
Continued
Expansion of Paid Wi-Fi
GoRemote
continues to expand its paid Wi-Fi access footprint with select
partners to provide customers with the broadest array of connectivity
options. Paid Wi-Fi offers location-specific access from premium
locations, such as airports, convention centers, in-flight aircraft
and rental car centers.
GoRemote
separately announced today an agreement with Connexion by Boeing(SM),
a business unit of The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), which will deliver
secure, in-flight access solutions to GoRemote's enterprise customers.
GoRemote
also announced today the addition of more than 2,900 U.S. Wi-Fi
hotspots to the GoRemote Global Network(TM) through an alliance
with SBC Communications.
Aggregating
3G and Cellular Data Services
Wireless
connectivity extends beyond Wi-Fi. GoRemote is expanding its wireless
footprint by building an aggregated cellular data network through
relationships with mobile operators around the world. The new connectivity
options, which will be offered using laptop data cards, include
multiple 2.5G and 3G access such as GPRS, GSM-based UMTS/WCDMA and
CDMA variants.
Cellular
data services complement the GoRemote Wi-Fi footprint by providing
broad, wide-area coverage, enabling mobile users to securely access
corporate networks at high-speeds while on the move. By providing
this key connection mechanism, GoRemote enables its end-users to
boost their productivity by experiencing converged Wi-Fi and cellular
communications anytime, anywhere through a single and easy to use
client interface. In a December 2004 report, IDC forecasted that
U.S. cellular data card revenues will grow from US$778.1 million
in 2005 to US$3.3 billion in 2008.
"GoRemote
is redefining 'everywhere access' to enterprise and professional
consumers by making available the world's largest and, more importantly,
most secure wireless access network," said Tom Thimot, GoRemote
President and CEO. "We continue to broaden the scope of access
available over the GoRemote Global Network by establishing critical
lliances. By offering a single global network that integrates cellular
and 3G data access, paid Wi-Fi access, and free Wi-Fi access, we
are focused on transforming wireless access into a secure extension
of the enterprise network."
Secure
Connectivity Regardless of Access Method
Many
connections are not secure, but that does not stop employees from
using them. GoRemote creates a powerful defense that both protect
the corporate network and mobile devices with GoRemote Total Security
Protection,
the industry's most comprehensive security platform for remote access.
GoRemote Total Security Protection includes centrally managed, policy-driven
security services: hosted user authentication; managed IP VPNs;
and endpoint security with application-centric firewalls, intrusion
prevention, host integrity, adaptive protection, universal enforcement
and remediation.
GoRemote
Total Security Protection includes:
--
Remote Endpoint Security (REPS) - REPS assures that the endpoint
stays protected and continuously complies with pre-set security
policies. This protection includes application-centric endpoint
firewall, intrusion detection and prevention, adaptive protection,
host integrity checking, security policy enforcement (including
802.1x) and remediation.
--
Security On Demand Agent (SODA) - SODA enables enterprises to secure
access to corporate data and systems regardless of endpoint ownership.
--
IPSec VPN integration - GoRemote offers a turnkey managed VPN service
that allows enterprises to quickly integrate and deploy a managed
IPSEC VPN to protect corporate resources.
--
Strong authentication - GoRemote strong authentication supports
any RADIUS-based two-factor authentication systems, permitting customers
to benefit from their already-deployed solution and reduce implementation
cost.
Easing
compliance effort and cost
To
reduce the cost, complexity, and risks of remote access while boosting
productivity, companies can integrate optional GoRemote Universal
Remote Control services with GoRemote Revolution-creating a secure
Web portal designed to allow enterprise IT and networking managers
to proactively manage, monitor, and support mobile and remote workers.
A single, easy-to-use management platform helps protect and defend
your networks by giving you extensive control over access that originates
outside the corporate firewall.
With
GoRemote Universal Remote Control, IT managers can monitor and manage
in real-time who is accessing their network, where the network is
being accessed from, how long users have been online and whether
any problems have developed, thus helping them determine whether
any suspicious activity is taking place. GoRemote Universal Remote
Control further facilitates the work mandated of IT managers and
finance departments to document and audit their internal controls
over remote access, even for free Wi-Fi connections, simplifying
and reducing the costs of complying with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley
Act.
Industry
Leaders Tout GoRemote Revolution
"As
mobile technology continues to proliferate, business professionals
have the opportunity to dramatically improve their productivity
while consumers can enjoy the freedom of staying connected outside
the home," said Raja Narayanan, vice president of mobility
solutions for Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information
Systems (
www.toshibamyconnect.com
).
"GoRemote's strategy and direction are aggressively embracing
these powerful industry trends, in alignment with Toshiba's MyConnect
mobility business strategy and direction."
According
to Berlex Laboratories, "We believe there is merit in providing
a secure global wireless footprint to our employees. GoRemote is
demonstrating innovation that deserves a thorough evaluation."
