: Optimi, the leader in providing wireless carriers network design,
planning and performance solutions, announced that it has been awarded
a major contract to provide design and optimization solutions for
one of the world's largest GSM/UMTS networks in North America. Terms
and conditions of the contract as well as the carriers' identity
were not revealed.
Specifically,
the carrier has agreed to deploy Optimi's x-ACP (Automatic Cell
Planning) product. x-ACP an integrated module of Optimi's X Design
& Optimization Product Suite. Benefits include
1.
Rapid integration of new UMTS sites/sectors into an existing GSM
network;
2.
Acceleration in the deployment of new revenue enhancing 3G data
services;
3.
Reduce radio frequency interference that increases data throughput,
improves service quality for voice and new data services.
"We
are very excited to have been selected to provide advanced design
and optimization solutions for one of the largest GSM/UMTS networks
in the world. We have developed unique capabilities that allow wireless
carriers to more efficiently manage emerging GSM and UMTS hybrid
networks," said Mr. David Bagley, Chief Operating Officer of
Optimi. "GSM/UMTS carriers are facing significant challenges
in not only managing multiple-technology networks but also supporting
the introduction of more complex data services. Our solutions support
carriers in achieving these critical objectives," noted Mr.
Bagley.
"Optimi
has developed the industry's most advanced wireless design and optimization
products. x-ACP enables carriers to design and optimize network
frequency resources at the cell level. Thus changes can be made
at a very specific level rather than undertaking network wide changes
and disruptions," said Mr. Juan Manuel Melero, Senior Vice
President, Optimi. "We provide carriers with the capabilities
to determine the optimal site for their UMTS network deployment,
the most efficient use of limited spectrum resources and how to
achieve the highest level of customer quality of service for UMTS
based products," concluded Mr. Melero.
