REMEC Rescues Operators from 3G Dropped Calls

23rd February , 2004

Europe France: REMEC will be showcasing its AISG (Antenna Interface Standard Group) compliant Tower Mounted Amplifiers (TMAs) at 3GSM World Congress. This technology is proven to reduce the number of dropped calls by over 50%.

The AISG TMA interface eliminates the need for additional cables by allowing operators to control the Remote Electrical Tilt (RET) antenna systems directly through the TMA interface. This allows sites to be upgraded quickly, affordably and more conveniently than current RET systems. REMEC TMAs improve coverage and reduce dropped call rates in networks built using analog, TDMA, CDMA, GSM and UMTS technologies.

RET antenna systems enable static and dynamic management of antenna tilt from the base of the tower, or remotely from the operations center. This RET control feature is integrated into a range of REMEC's compact TMAs, the only product to offer the following additional features:

-- Small size and lightweight, allowing ease of installation and
minimum tower loading

-- Industry-leading resistance to deteriorating effects of wind,
rain, snow and ice

-- Mountable from any location and any orientation

-- Superior field-proven mean time between failure (MTBF),
promising lower cost of ownership and fewer tower climbs

To view REMEC's AISG-compliant TMAs during 3GSM World Congress, please visit the company in Hall 2, Booth F55.
