Single Board Computer for 3G Network Signalling

23rd February , 2004

Europe France : Adax has announced the industry’s first Single Board Computer (SBC) specifically designed for telecommunications signalling applications. The SBC-915X provides a high performance, cost-effective single slot solution for any signalling requirement, supporting SS7, ATM and SIGTRAN protocols for both 2G and 3G networks. It offers low power consumption that reduces heat emissions and enables many boards to be installed in one system. This provides infrastructure developers with the high density and scalability they require for Next Generation Network nodes that most other SBC signalling products cannot achieve.

Together with Adax PMC cards and software modules, the SBC-915X provides a single solution that can support all protocols for narrowband, broadband and IP signalling across T1/E1, OC3/STM-1 and Ethernet interfaces. The board is ideal for applications where large volumes of traffic need to be supported with a completely scalable solution that can grow along with the demands of the network. Typical applications include Base Station Controllers, Radio Network Controllers, Mobile Switching Centres, HLR/VLRs, STPs, Signalling Gateways and Softswitches.

By mounting one or two Adax PMC modules onto the SBC-915X, the single slot solution can be configured as a cost-effective compactPCI signalling blade for SS7, ATM, SIGTRAN or SS7/IP signalling. The board can also be configured as an SS7/IP signalling gateway that offers a reliable and highly cost-effective price/performance architecture for infrastructure developers.

The SBC-915X is entirely future-proof due to the commonality of the API between Adax software products and customer applications. SS7-only solutions can be quickly and easily IP enabled and a narrowband SS7/IP solution is easily migrated to broadband with minimal changes to the higher layers. This protects a customer’s signalling infrastructure investment as the demands of the network change.

About Adax Europe Ltd.
Adax is the industry leader in signalling infrastructure for next generation networks. It provides high performance end-to-end signalling solutions across SS7, IP and ATM networks. Adax has an extensive product set which includes signalling communications controllers and protocol software; integrated signalling protocol stack solutions with partners; and complete signalling gateways. The company's products are standards-based, flexible and portable to meet diverse customer requirements and provide interoperability. This enables OEMs and integrators to deploy their signalling application, node or system as quickly and efficiently as possible irrespective of the underlying network interface or architecture.

Adax provides signalling solutions for the world's leading communications companies, including Lucent, Nortel, Ericsson, Alcatel, Hughes Software Systems and CCPU. Typical application areas include Signalling, Voice over IP (VoIP), Media Gateways; Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) and Serving GPRS Support Nodes (SGSN) nodes for GPRS and 3G; Intelligent Networks; Base Station Control; Billing Mediation.
