| New Price Point for 3G Protocol Analyzers |
19th February , 2004 |
US : Catapult Communications Corporation announced it is entering the network protocol analyzer market. The company’s first protocol analyzer product, Chameleon, builds on Catapult’s longstanding experience and expertise in digital communications test systems. Starting at less than $30,000, Chameleon offers unmatched price/performance for analyzing third-generation (3G) UMTS, cdma2000 and TD-SCDMA wireless networks and products. Chameleon will be demonstrated at the 3GSM World Congress show in Cannes, France, February 23-26 and begin shipping to customers in May. According to Dr. Richard Karp, founder and CEO, “Chameleon will strengthen Catapult’s leadership position in telecom test by addressing the urgent needs of 3G manufacturers and carriers for a new generation of protocol analyzers. We are introducing that new generation of protocol analyzers and expanding our business focus with this announcement.” Karp continued, “Chameleon will complement our high end test systems and help our customers develop increasingly complex 3G network technologies that are being rolled out today. Very importantly, Chameleon sets a new price point for the 3G protocol analyzer market.” According to Dave Mayfield, President and COO, “Many of our customers have expressed the need to augment their Catapult DCT2000® and MGTS® test environments with 3G protocol monitoring. Among its advanced capabilities, Chameleon offers real-time and post-processing analysis, remote use through a web browser and support for English, French and Japanese. Chameleon users can monitor, capture and decode messages to identify network protocol problems.” Chameleon will be available in a rack-mountable version for use in fixed environments, and in a transportable version to support mobile field service operations. The product will be sold worldwide through Catapult’s direct sales force and distribution partners. About
