Lemke, European Business Development Manager There is ever-increasing pressure on Wireless Service Providers to grow their average revenue per user (ARPU) whilst decreasing their operating costs. These contradictory objectives can only be achieved through radical changes in processes and practices. The introduction of exciting wireless data services gives operators an opportunity to attract higher profit customers, but with a significant increase in the complexity of their network. Operators need to re-assess monitoring and measurement methods to ensure that their customers are receiving the best possible user experience in a cost effective manner. This presentation discusses an end-to-end holistic approach to monitoring network quality of service, from a wireless user's perspective. This approach enables the operator to ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are being adhered to and that any faults in the system are quickly identified and resolved. Kurt Lemke is the Business Development leader for Agilent's Wireless Network Test Division in Europe. Kurt has over 17 years experience in satellite and terrestrial wireless communications systems ranging from analog (AMPS/NAMPS/TACS/NTACS) to digital (WCDMA/GPRS/GSM/PDC/IS-136) and including circuit- and packet-switched data applications. Kurt was educated at Caltech and IIT, holds three U.S. patents and currently resides in Sweden. Sam Ross has been with Agilent Technologies for nearly 5 years and during this period has been responsible for the Product Management of Agilent's wireless Optimization Platform, with a primary focus on GPRS and UMTS technologies. Sam has spent over 27 years amassing extensive experience in the telecommunications industry holding both technical and managerial positions with a number of successful companies. Rafael Andrade With a solid 10 years experience in wireless communications Rafael has developed processes and procedures for the design, evaluation, and optimization for AMPS, IS-136 TDMA, GSM, GPRS, CDMA IS-95, CDMA-2000, CDMA-1xEVDO and UMTS networks around the world. Currently as a Senior Solutions Architect for the Communications Solution Group he focuses on End-to-End testing, performance and QoS for High-Speed Data networks. His main areas of focus are RLP and IP protocol analysis, User Experience quantification/evaluation/reporting, real-time and non-real-time application testing/analysis, end-to-end Quality of Service and SLA Management.
