NEC's mobile handsets Handsets for both the European and Japanese markets will be visible on the NEC stand, including NEC's latest i-mode device for Europe, the n22i, which has already been supplied to the KPN Group for its operations in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, and to Bouygues Telecom for its i-mode service in France. The handset's large 4,096 colour screen is ideal for displaying i-mode web sites, and makes for easy reading of mobile email. Advanced NEC models from Japan will show the direction in which i-mode could be headed. 3G is becoming a reality in Europe. NEC has played a significant role in its development, providing the first handsets to 3, the mobile multimedia and communications service developed by Hutchison 3G, for its networks in the UK and Italy. Compact, striking and totally unique, the e606 and e808 support video telephony as well as a range of exciting 3G services and applications. 3G handsets currently available in Japan, the birthplace of 3G, will also be exhibited as part of NEC's telecommunications portfolio. NEC's latest WAP (GPRS) handset will be shown on the NEC stand during CeBIT3GSM. The e525, which features an integrated camera and built-in antenna, supports MMS and has two impressive colour displays. NEC's mobile and broadband applications A diverse assortment of application software and middleware, developed by NEC for operators and content providers in the European market, will be showcased on the stand. NEC's VS-7000 series of mobile applications (NEMIP) has been developed based on experience in Japan, and includes Digital Rights Management software and Markup Language Gateway applications. Also on display at the NEC telecommunications stand will be the RX1000 web content conversion software, which reformats web (HTML) content into a format suitable for mobile devices such, as handsets and PDAs. Web content is converted through the Markup Language translation, the adjustment of the image format, the colour and the screen layout. The capabilities of this software will be made evident during a series of live demonstrations throughout the exhibition. NEC will launch StreamPro, a content delivery solution for broadband providers, in Europe during the first half of 2003. It will be exhibited for the first time in Europe at CeBIT 2003. NEC's telecommunications hardware NEC has expanded its portfolio of telecommunications hardware products, and will be showing the Pasolink, a short haul microwave system that offers the reliability demanded by industry players in a compact, integrated structure. NEC's future designs Demonstrating NEC's enthusiasm for developing future technologies and devices, the conceptual models on display at the NEC stand will not disappoint. Slick, eye-catching and fashionable, these future designs encompass mobile telephony, home entertainment and computing, embracing mobility and modernity. Examples include vial, a wearable media player and Glass Navi, a model based on binoculars that permits the use of GPS navigation. NEC's conceptual models are created by NEC Designs, a subsidiary of NEC Corporation charged with designing the majority of NEC's extensive product range. Japan Aviation Electronics Industry (JAE) Japan Aviation Electronics Industry (JAE) Ltd, a leading manufacturer of electronic connectors, will exhibit a selection of components for mobile devices on the NEC stand during CeBIT. The range of connectors includes Board to board, Input/output, smartcard and FFC/FPC. NEC Infrontia This year NEC Infrontia, a subsidiary of NEC Corporation, will display the 'Aspire', a communication gateway, which seamlessly combines VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) and classic PBX technologies in a flexible system. The Aspire can work as a standard key telephone system (KTS) or operate as a legacy KTS, permitting a gradual transition to IP telephony. Dubbed a 'One Box Solution', the Aspire will be shown for the first time during CeBIT along with a range of matching terminals and adaptors. |
