World's Smallest CDMA Wireless Bluetooth Device

26th February 2003

Murata Electronics introduced the smallest Bluetooth radio frequency (RF) device for Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) applications on the market to their line-up. Measuring only 8mm x 6.5mm x 1.6mm, the LMBTA068 series BlueDevice is smaller than competitors' products.

"Murata's design and manufacturing capabilities are on the cutting-edge of passive component technology. As a result, we offer smaller and more sophisticated products in the CDMA market than our competitors," said Scott Klettke, Group Product Manager for Murata Electronics North America. "This industry-leading position enables engineers to have the ability to choose a product that meets both their size and functionality requirements from a company that they trust to provide the most advanced technology."
The greatest benefit will be to those engineers developing CDMA handsets and PC cards with Bluetooth functionality. The device allows designers using a CDMA chipset to easily add a module to realize the RF transceiver portion of Bluetooth. This also allows seamless interfacing with a Bluetooth baseband that is built directly into that chip using a standard Bluetooth for CDMA interface protocol.

Samples for the BlueDevice are available upon request and priced at $100. The current sample lead-time is four to six weeks.
