| 3G FOMA Service Extended |

Plans call for FOMA service to cover approximately 91% of Japan's population by the end of March 2003 and some 97% by the end of March 2004. DoCoMo will also concentrate on boosting 3G access in buildings so that FOMA users can enjoy stable communications. The company also announced that it will increase the number of FOMA 3G network base stations in existing service areas of the Kanto Koshinetsu region from approximately 1,800 to some 2,200 to provide customers with optimum service. By the end of March 2004, NTT DoCoMo is aiming to have the same number of 3G base stations as PDC (800 MHz) base stations, which currently stand at some 2,600. In January 2003, DoCoMo introduced two enhanced 3G models boasting the longest battery life of any FOMA model and the ability to e-mail video clips taken with built-in cameras. *Kanto Koshinetsu region consists of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Yamanashi, Nagano and Niigata. |
