| MMS Wireless Gets Better For T-Mobile |
11th February 2003 |
From February, 2003 multimedia messages - for instance texts in combination with users' own photos and sounds can now be also sent from the T-Mobile directly to E-Plus's network, where they can be received with an MMS-capable cellphone. In turn MMS sent by E-Plus customers to the T-Mobile network directly reach their addressees via MMS cellphone. Up to now it was already possible to exchange MMS in Germany between the networks of T-Mobile, O2 and Vodafone. This means that just half a year after the introduction of the Multimedia Messaging Service, multimedia messages can now be sent via all networks from one MMS cellphone to another. Users without an MMS cellphone still receive an SMS with a specific Internet link, indicating where they can view their multimedia message. "The number of subscribers to the new MMS service is showing an excellent development. Thanks to the MMS exchange in all German mobile telephony networks, which T-Mobile is offering its subscribers from the beginning of February, we are expecting further great boosts in business“, explained Martin Knauer, Head of Marketing at T-Mobile Deutschland. T-Mobile Deutschland also plans to further expand its MMS offer in the future. An example of this is the recently introduced MMS Album. The MMS Album offers T-Mobile subscribers the possibility of not only using the MMS cellphone but also the Internet as a storage medium for multimedia messages. MMS messages are forwarded to the MMS Album, where they can be stored, administrated, edited, re-arranged and sent again. In Germany T-Mobile Deutschland has already sold 250,000 MMS cellphones since it launched its Multimedia Messaging Service. |
