J-Phone
Setup a Wireless Weather Service |
|
7th February 2003 |
|
J-PHONE Co., Ltd. announced today from after early March 2003 it will offer a new "Weather Icon" service that displays weather information on a handset's main display or sub-display to keep users abreast of the weather anytime and anywhere. This service will be available starting with the introduction of the J-SH010 handset (manufactured by Sharp) and expanded to future handsets in the J-PHONE lineup. In October 2000, J-PHONE introduced "Station", an information service that delivers content based on a user's location. Without going online, Station users can access weather, event, restaurant and a wide range of other content based on their area of location. With simple menu operations, desired local information can be accessed; when a user moves to another area, content is automatically refreshed. The Weather Icon
service uses content from Station's "Weather Forecast" charged
channel (offered by Weathernews Inc.) to automatically deliver display
weather icons (for example ) right to mobile handset screens, making
it easy and convenient for users to know the weather at a glance. |
