3G Network Operator Optimus Form Strategic Partnership

US : Special Edition of BVRP's Mobile PhoneTools(R) Enables Optimus' Subscribers With UMTS PC Cards and Phones to Connect to Internet and Send SMS From Their PCs

BVRP, a leading OEM provider of communications and mobility software, and Optimus, a Portuguese mobile phone operator and member of the Orange network, today announced an agreement to distribute to Optimus' subscribers a special edition of BVRP's best-selling Mobile PhoneTools(R), the world's most advanced mobile phone management software. The software, marketed under the Optimus PC Connection name, is specifically intended for Optimus' 3G network subscribers.

The BVRP Windows-based software will allow Laptop owners to connect their PC to their phone via Bluetooth, Infrared or USB cable to access the Internet and send SMS messages via their PC keyboard. Optimus also will make the software available to its PC card subscribers to streamline connectivity over the 3G network.

David Wright, Executive Vice President and Director of BVRP Software's OEM Division, states: "This partnership agreement is important in two ways. First, a direct agreement with an operator is a breakthrough for BVRP's OEM Division. Second of all, most operators like Optimus have called upon us in a niche market, such as PC cards. But under this agreement, we are moving into a high-volume market, the telephone market."

Paulo Simoes, Optimus 3G Launch Office Director, adds: "Optimus PC Connection is a key part of our 3G implementation strategy. The Software allows our customers to connect their laptops to our high-speed 3G network seamlessly via infrared, data cable, Bluetooth or a PC Card. In addition Optimus PC Connection will give our customers useful feedback on the available network or connection usage using the interface that we have designed."

Main functions of the Optimus PC Connection software for Optimus PC cards and telephones intended for the 3G network:

-- fast connection to Internet through the UMTS network;

-- easy sending and receiving of SMS from PCs;

-- user-friendly and modern interface with the Optimus look and feel;

-- display of connection statistics;

-- easy connection to partner networks abroad (roaming function).
