3G Motorola E1000 and Nokia 6630 for 3 Hong Kong

21st December, 2004

ASIA : Another wave of video mobile communications has arrived. 3 Hong Kong announced today that two state-of-the-art handset models - the Motorola E1000 and the Nokia 6630 - will soon join its strong line-up of 3G video mobile phones, bringing 3’s handset portfolio to 17. 3 Hong Kong currently provides the widest range of 3G video mobile phones in the city. It takes the lead again by allowing the public to try out the Motorola E1000 tomorrow, ahead of its launch, at 15 designated 3Shops. Pre-orders of the two new handset models will also start tomorrow.

The Motorola E1000 is the first video mobile phone on the market to feature a 260K colours display with 240 x 320 pixels and a 1.23 megapixel camera. It offers a strong video and photographing function and a high-quality screen display. Apart from video calling, a standard function, the Motorola E1000 features an advanced 3G mobile system in UMTS mode, Tri-band GSM capability, video/audio streaming, a stereo speaker and Bluetooth. It supports an up to 256MB TransFlash memory card, the Global Positioning Satellite (AGPS), the download of Java applications and games, POP3 and the IMAP4 email protocol. With this new model and the exclusive Motorola A1000 that has already been launched, 3 Hong Kong offers the widest range of Motorola video mobile phones in Hong Kong.

The Nokia 6630 is Nokia’s first 3G video mobile phone in the world. It features a high-quality 1.23 megapixel camera. Its stylish design is complemented by an advanced 3G mobile system in UMTS mode, Tri-band GSM capability and 65K colours display. It supports the Symbian system, a reduced-size MMC for expanding memory, video/audio streaming, Bluetooth and the download of Java applications and games.

“3 Hong Kong has endeavoured to provide the best quality 3G video mobile phones for customers since its launch of the city’s first 3G service. The two new handsets have given another strong boost to 3’s handset portfolio, already the widest 3G video mobile range in Hong Kong, bringing it to 17 3G video mobile phones of five brands, fully catering for the customer’s needs,” said Ms Agnes Nardi, Managing Director of 3 Hong Kong.

“We are the first to allow customers to try out the E1000 at 15 designated 3Shops starting tomorrow. We will continue to bring forth more advanced 3G video mobile phones and rich 3G content, and let customers experience the fun of video mobile communications,” she added.
