3D 3G Wireless Games

10th December 2002

Interactive 3D enabling technology specialist, Superscape plc and US-based Cybiko Wireless Inc., announce that they are working together to develop a suite of innovative 3D games for mobile phones with the aim of establishing Superscape's Swerve technology as the premier 3D engine and authoring tools.

The two companies have powerful and complementary assets. Superscape's Swerve technology is highly regarded in the wireless sector as a robust, flexible and generic solution capable of delivering a wide range of applications to 2.5 and 3G handsets. Cybiko Wireless is a leading developer of wireless games with over 55 titles launched including the first perspective view racer in the industry, the highly successful MotoGP game for THQ. One of Cybiko's games, Ki Tia, became the focus of Sprint's autumn TV advertising campaign. Clients for Cybiko-developed content include hardware manufacturers like Motorola, US and international carriers such as Sprint and Vodafone, and high-end traditional publishers such as THQ, Sega and Midway.

Cybiko's designers and engineers are currently familiarising themselves with the Swerve technology in preparation to develop a complete suite of 3D content covering the main game genres. It is anticipated that the first game developed by Cybiko will be available early next year.

Kevin Roberts, CEO, Superscape plc said: "I believe that this new initiative with Cybiko will prove to be extremely important for Superscape. Cybiko has a highly respected reputation for delivering innovative games to the global wireless community. Combining their skills and industry contacts with our Swerve enabling technology will, I am confident, enable us to jointly develop an extremely powerful suite of applications for global handset manufacturers."

Donald Wisniewski, President of Cybiko said: "We are very excited by this new relationship with Superscape. Their technology is immensely impressive. It is clear to us that, armed with Superscape's Swerve, we will be able to create absolutely stunning and impactful games which are sure to set a new standard for the mobile gaming sector."

A broad portfolio of games will be developed, providing a mix of racing, sports, strategy and shoot-out challenges.
