iPhone 4S Number One Seller In Run Up To Xmas

The latest research has shown that the Apple iPhone 4S is outselling all the other mobile devices in the four weeks leading up to the 9th December.

This is the first time in ages that an Apple iPhone 4S has outsold the Samsung Galaxy S2, which reigned supreme in the "dead-time" before the new iPhone launched. The research, conducted by Gfk and gathered from the major operators , showed the iPhone 4S had a 25 per cent share of the total phone sales.

Apple also had five iPhone's in the top 15 selling mobiles including the iPhone 3GS, which launched over two years ago. When including all the iPhone varieties Apple had over 37 per cent of total phone sales, which is an impressive figure.

As you'd expect the Samsung Galaxy S2 came in second place and still sold very well. Samsung would probably have expected Apple to overtake them in the Xmas period and will still be very happy by the performance of the Galaxy S2.

One company that won't be happy is Nokia because the Lumia 800 failed to even make the top 10. It's especially disappointing when you consider the Lumia 800 has benefited from a 20 million pound advertising campaign.

Nokia are claiming sales are low because they don't have an established user-base and are hoping sales will grow as more and more people try their Windows mobiles.

Blackberry will have mixed emotions because they managed to get three Curve devices in the top 10 , but their flagship Bold 9900 smartphone failed to make the top 10.

The guys at 3G aren't surprised by the majority of the findings, but would have expected Nokia to fair a little better than they have. We're really starting to worry about the future of Nokia and think the next 6 months are the most important in the company's history.
