Nokia confirmed they will introduce a streamlined Symbian OS as Nokia unveiled a 2 stage Platform OS strategy whilst at the same time saying that the number of smartphones models it will launch in 2010 will fall by 50% compared to the number in 2009.
Nokia demoed a new smarter version of Symbian OS for Nokia devices which performed at up to three times quicker. The new Symbian OS will be released next year and also includes multi-touch compatibility for Nokia capacitive touch screens.
The Symbian OS will get a boost as the fames per second ( fps ) is increased from 15fps up to 60fps. This makes for a much slicker experience with better maneuvering and scrolling around the homescreen, menu and apps.
Nokia see the new Symbian OS / User Interface as a breath of “fresh air” and have high hopes for the update and see it offering exactly what today smartphone buyers demand.
