US : SavaJe Technologies is pleased to announce that Release 2.5 of SavaJe OS, SavaJe Technologies' Java Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME) based open operating system, is now shipping to mobile handset manufacturers.

First commercial handsets using SavaJe OS will ship into the Asian market in early 2006. In addition, LG Electronics is demonstrating and promoting a handset based on SavaJe OS to operators worldwide, and is ready to mass-produce handsets to operator specifications for delivery in 2006.

SavaJe OS 2.5 is an advanced open operating system for mid tier and high tier handsets, based on Sun Microsystems' Java technology. The product supports immediate deployment of 2.5G GPRS and EDGE-based handsets, as well as development of 3G WCDMA/UTMS-based devices.
