Guangzhou 3G Successfully Launches CRBT VAS for China Mobile

15th December , 2005

ASIA China : SPacificNet Inc. and Value-Added Services (VAS) in China, announced that China Mobile recently deployed its subsidiary Guangzhou 3G's Color Ring Back Tone ("CRBT") value-added services for Hubei and Guangdong Provinces. To date, Guangzhou 3G has launched localized CRBT services in 11 provinces including Liaoning, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Ningxia, Qinghai, Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, etc., serving the four major telecom operators in China.

With the CRBT value-added telecom service ("Cai-Ling"), subscribers can customize the ring tone from a wide selection of commercial music, personalized messages, celebrity greetings, or voice advertisements to replace the monotonous ring connecting tone that the caller would hear. The CRBT service offers more personalized services for mobile users while opening new revenue possibilities for operators to increase average revenue per user (ARPU). CRBT usage has increased dramatically since it was first introduced by China Mobile in 2003. A recent industry research indicates that CRBT penetration has exceeded 10% of the overall mobile subscribers, and CRBT subscribers will surpass 60 million users, resulting in a market size of RMB 2 billion by the end of 2005. CRBT has become a new business growth point emerging after mobile voice services and SMS.

"Color Ring Back Tone (CRBT) has become a popular value-added service subscribed by young people and is attracting more and more users with its rich personalized features," said Lu Xiangdong, VP of China Mobile, "During the first half of 2005, Guangdong Mobile had 14 million CRBT subscribers, representing about 25% of the overall subscribers and its CRBT system has become the most used in the world. Hubei Mobile launched a CRBT service in June, 2004, and now reaches 1.6 million users representing an important part of the VAS income. We are confident about the growth prospects for CRBT services offered by Guangzhou 3G."

"As one of the top mobile information service providers operating across China, Guangzhou 3G has been engaged in promoting telecom value-added services in an all-round manner, " said Super Yongchao, General Manager of Guangzhou 3G, "Guangzhou 3G has established a long-standing cooperative relationship with China Mobile on the provincial level. We are pleased to launch CRBT access in Guangdong and Hubei provinces. It is expected to become a powerful growth segment in our VAS business development. With the growing market demand for IVR and other voice related value-added services in China, we are confident that Guangzhou 3G will take a significant share in China's VAS market."
