Wildlight Channel to Showcase Short Films on Vodafone 3G |

Europe Ireland : The Wildlight Channel, a made-for-mobile movie channel is now available exclusively to Vodafone Ireland customers on Vodafone live! With 3G. The Wildlight Channel showcases fresh and original short-form film content from around the world. The channel features animations and live-action shorts that are particularly suited to small screens and a mobile audience. The service, available only to Vodafone Ireland customers, has a special focus on Irish made films. The Wildlight Channel is a joint venture between Wildwave, a leading provider of mobile digital entertainment and Darklight Film Festival, a pioneer in digital film. “We
see a young audience who are mobile and consume media in a fragmented
and ondemand style.. We want to provide compelling mobile content
that connects with this audience.” “We believe that there is a demand for innovative and entertaining films that people can relate to. This medium will be defined by its ability to tell stories to this new audience” he adds. The Wildlight Channel has signed up an impressive catalogue of films from leading distributors and filmmakers from around the world. Current partners include Bord Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board , Billy Blob, Monster Distributes, Network Television Ireland, D.A.D.D.Y, Breakthru Films, Dazzle Films, Delicious9, Lovely Productions, MacBoy and over 100 filmmakers, Festivals and Distributors from around the world. Content also includes a wide range of films, from Sundance Winners to Oscar nominees to viral web animations. “The Darklight Film Festival has built up an excellent relationship with filmmakers and production companies over its six year history and is recognised as one of the pioneering festivals of its type in the world. This has given us a tremendous head start in acquiring content for the Channel.” says Nicky Gogan, Director of the Darklight Film Festival and President of The Wildlight Channel. “ We have found that the goodwill attached to Darklight Festival translates directly to the channel, as filmmakers and distributors like to work with a team they can trust, in this new territory.” continues Ms. Gogan. The service on Vodafone live! provides an ever-changing selection of the best and most entertaining cutting-edge short film. The launch line-up includes “Give up Yer Aul Sins” by Brown Bag Films, “Nun Fight Club” by Declan DeBarra, “50% Grey” by Ruairi Robinson and “SPOT” by James Doherty. The Films are priced on a pay per download basis and will range at 50c and €1.50 per clip. “Vodafone is committed to being the home of the very best global and local content.
