Scalado and Open Bit will jointly work on developing and marketing customer specific imaging projects and cross license each others technologies and products. Additionally they will develop and market imaging applications and technologies for both embedded usage and for open platforms. Both companies are Symbian Platinum Partners and are committed to the increasing smart phone market lead by Symbian and associated GUI such as series60 and UIQ. “With this alliance we are convinced that the combination of the imaging teams from Scalado and Open Bit dramatically will improve our ability to address the mobile imaging market. The long experience that Open Bit has in consumer applications, especially in the camera enhancement applications, combined with the strong imaging technologies from Scalado will expand our ability to deliver compelling mobile imaging applications”, says Mats Jacobson, CEO at Scalado. “Scalado and Open Bit are fully committed to develop applications that enhance the imaging functionality in mobile phones which ultimately results in higher customer satisfaction. Scalado has consistently invested in advanced imaging technologies to meet the camera phone manufacturer’s requirements and Open Bit has focused on consumer applications. Together with Scalado we will champion the market by delivering world class mobile imaging applications”, says Arto Lehtonen, Managing Director at Open Bit. “License Manager, another key product line of Open Bit, will be critical to create demand and drive distribution of consumer applications in the mobile industry.” Scalado and Open Bit will develop a combined product road map with future camera phones, primarily based on Symbian OS. Open Bit Oy Ltd., based out of Tampere Finland, is mostly known as the creator of the award winning camera is one of the mostÔ.
