Samsung Galaxy Note 5 gets shown off in new videos

Samsung’s fifth phablet flagship has been officially announced and it sounds like a real beast, but while spec lists are one thing seeing it in action is always preferable, so it’s good that Samsung has released some videos showing off key aspects of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

The first thing that anyone will notice is the design, as it has a massive 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 screen, a 7.6mm thick metal frame and an ergonomically curved glass back. It's clearly inspired by the Samsung Galaxy S6 and it's by far the best looking Note yet. The curved design also makes it easier to hold than it otherwise would be, which is important since this is a big phone which could easily have been awkward to grasp.

You should be able to find a style to suit you as well, as it comes in a choice of White Pearl, Gold Platinum, Black Sapphire or Silver Titanium.

As you can see in the design video Samsung has also worked to improve the S Pen that comes with it. It’s easy to remove and designed to feel like an actual pen in your hand, to make writing more natural. It’s also got greater sensitivity and can be used with more precision than older S Pens.

Handily you can use it to write notes without even turning the screen on, making it every bit as useful as an actual notepad.

The phone and the stylus are just the start though, as the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 also supports a range of accessories to further make it your own, including a wide variety of covers and charging options, such as a fast charging battery pack and a fast charging wireless pad.

When you get down to using the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 you’ll really appreciate the improvements to the S Pen, as with new Air Command actions you’ll likely find yourself using it a lot.

With a tap of the Air Command icon you can get quick access to your favourite apps and features and the icon itself can be placed wherever you want.

There are various features to make the most of these shortcuts, such as Scroll Capture, which lets you easily save documents to your gallery as shown in Samsung’s ‘S Pen & Entertainment’ video. You can even add your own notes to them and share them with friends. While Smart Select lets you easily cut out images by highlighting the bits you want with the S Pen.

The big screen also enables a multi window feature, where you can have two apps or windows running side by side.

If you’re more of a camera fan you won’t be disappointed there either, as its 16 megapixel rear snapper is one of the best around and its real-time HDR feature ensures your snaps always look great. You can even shoot in low-light thanks to its f/1.9 aperture.

On the front of the phone you’ll find a 5 megapixel camera with the same aperture and HDR features, so selfies look great too. The camera also has built in filters that you can select from or if you’d rather shoot videos you can create a collage and add filters there too.

Whatever you’re using the Note 5 for you can be sure it will be able to keep up, thanks to a powerful octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM.
