Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Price Run

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was announced in February when it was highly acclaimed as the first smartphone to double as a gaming phone. 3G reviewed the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in April when our reviewer concluded "While there's no doubt that it's a good way to while away some spare time, if you have a PSP or Nintendo DS Lite, it's not going to serve as a replacement".

Now the Xperia Play is subject to a price run downwards. This normally means that the price reduction is as a result of lower than expected sales or the arrival of an updated version such as Xperia Play 2. There have been unofficial discussions on some websites regarding an Xperia Play 2.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play's price has dropped from £500 to £295 on sites such as eXpanys on SIM free. the Xperia Play comes with Android Gingerbread 2.3, a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, an embedded Adreno GPU graphics processor, a five-megapixel camera and a four-inch multi-touch screen.
