BT Powers Its Way to 500K Wi-Fi Hotspots

UK : BT has powered its way to become the leader in the provision of Wi-Fi hotspot networks.
BT has recently become the UK’s largest Wi-Fi supplier with over 500,000 locations. BT’s objective is to have even larger Wi-Fi hotspot network with over 1 Million UK and Irish locations.
Currently, the hotspot loctions are provided by :
- BT Openzone hotspots
- 12 ‘wireless’ city centres
- BT Openzone
- BT FON Wi-Fi Community
Access is also provided by established brands such as :
Skyteam airport lounges, Flybe and British Airways
Roadchef Costa service stations and Welcome Break
Ramada Jarvis hotels, Caffe Nero and Starbucks
Nearly 5 Million BT broadband and mobile broadband customers can use the Wi-Fi Hotspots as they have inclusive network minutes in their contracts. The cost of Wi-Fi useage for non contrach holders is as little as 0.5 pence a minute.
Gavin Patterson, chief executive officer, BT Retail, said: “We've reached a significant milestone in making Wi-Fi available in places where people want to get online. As the UK’s largest broadband retailer, we’re happy to offer the biggest Wi-Fi network too. We’ll continue to expand from here.”
