ASIA China : ZTE announced the release of its ZTE U350, the world's first TD-SCDMA/GSM dual module, dual stand-by handset. The dual stand-by capability means users can put a call on hold in one mode and take a separate call on the other mode, and then switch between modes. This is one of the few dual stand-by handsets in the industry, and the first with this capability over TD-SCDMA and GSM. ZTE produces a complete range of dual module handsets including the H500 CDMA/GSM dual mode, dual stand-by device. Dual mode, dual stand-by handsets, especially those that combine 3G with traditional GSM and CDMA standards, are expected to be very popular as 3G networks roll out because they give users the opportunity to communicate over either mode, with the dual stand-by feature allowing on-line switching between modes. The ZTE Handset Division has so far launched 14 3G terminals across the three international standards -- WCDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA -- including handsets and data cards, most of which have already been commercialized, and is one of the leading 3G terminal manufacturers. ZTE has already sold 300,000 WCDMA terminals to Hutchison Whampoa, the global 3G mainstream operator, early this year, and its 3G handsets and data card terminals such as the F869, F870, MF328, and MF330 models are available in the European and Asian markets. In June, ZTE won the world's first big order of HSDPA data cards for its 3.6Mbps MF330 data card, and has started supplying batches of the MF330 cards to major European operators. ZTE's 3G, GSM, CDMA, optical transmission and data communication devices have been used by hundreds of millions of users in more than 120 countries around the world. The ZTE Handset Division, quickly establishing itself as a global leader of 3G and dual module handsets, has the R&D and manufacturing capability that covers WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, CDMA2000, GSM, CDMA and PHS standards. About ZTE ZTE is a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions. The ZTE product range is the most complete in the world -- covering virtually every sector of the wireline, wireless and handset markets. The company delivers innovative, custom-made products and services to customers in more than 100 countries, helping them to achieve continued revenue growth and to shape the future of the world's communications. ZTE commits around 10% of annual turnover to research and development and takes a leading role in a wide range of international bodies developing emerging telecoms standards. It is the fastest-growing telecoms equipment company in the world, and is China's only listed telecoms manufacturer, with shares publicly traded on both the Hong Kong and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges. ZTE was the only Chinese IT and telecoms manufacturer listed in BusinessWeek 2005's Information Technology 100.
