Making 3G Global Forum |
|
25th August ,2004 |
|
What: Forum Business and Strategies Session 5: Making 3G Global When: Thursday, 9 September, 14.30-16.00 Where: Room 205-206, Convention Hall, Bexco, Busan, Republic of Korea Why: IMT-2000 — or third generation (3G) — has been rolled out across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as elsewhere in the world, and countries such as Japan and the Republic of Korea have emerged as the early leaders in this next generation of mobile communications technology. Within the Asia-Pacific region, operators have been able to choose which type of technology will take them along their next-generation path. Two distinct radio interfaces; CDMA2000 and Wideband CDMA (sometimes called UMTS in Europe) have emerged and in some cases, operate alongside each other. China, meanwhile, is conducting trials of its own IMT-2000 variant, TD-SCDMA technology. CDMA2000
and W-CDMA technologies will need to offer full interworking and roaming
with each other in order to make IMT-2000 a truly global standard
for the future. How close are we to achieving this goal? This key
Forum session will examine the attributes of each technology as well
as consider scenarios for their future deployment. Online registration for visitors and Forum participants is available here. |
