: A new partnership between Telstra and Turner Broadcasting will give
i-mode® subscribers access to the latest CNN news and Cartoon
Network content on their mobile phones when Telstra's i-mode®
service launches later this year.
Under the agreement
in principle with Telstra, Turner Broadcasting will offer world and
regional breaking news, sports news and scores, weather and entertainment
news from CNN, plus some of the highly acclaimed, quality programming
content that has turned Cartoon Network into a subscriber TV favourite.
Telstra's Managing
Director of Wireless and Mobility Products, Ms Holly Kramer, said
Turner Broadcasting was the first of numerous i-mode® content
partners, both locally and abroad, set to offer compelling, relevant
and timely services to Telstra customers when i-mode® launches
in late October.
"In the months
ahead we will be announcing some great content deals to provide i-mode®
subscribers with a premium wireless experience, delivered over a range
of innovative, multifunctional handsets," Ms Kramer said.
"The look
and feel of the content will closely reflect CNN.com and CNN television
so that Telstra's i-mode® subscribers can experience an environment
that is comfortable and familiar.
"Telstra's
i-mode® subscribers are also set to enjoy games and content featuring
characters from The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Tom and
Jerry, and many other Cartoon Network programs direct from the i-mode®
handset, anytime and anywhere on the GPRS network."
Senior Vice President
and General Manager, Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific Inc.,
Ian Carroll, said working with Telstra furthers Turner Broadcasting's
goal to provide high-quality digital content on mobile platforms.
"We are pleased
to partner with Telstra and are confident that i-mode® subscribers
will value our news and entertainment content available to them."
Globally,
i-mode® is leading the world in mobile internet innovation with
more than 43 million subscribers and 80,000 content sites in nine
different countries. Telstra's recent 3G announcement will provide
an additional layer of richer audio-video news and information capabilities.
