: Acoustic Technologies, a leading developer of high quality communication
solutions for voice telephony, today announced the expansion of its
software solution through a new licensing agreement that integrates
SoundClear ATS5500 software into select Motorola 3G mobile phones.

below which have SoundClear.
The
SoundClear software improves voice clarity, full-duplex operation,
and speaker volume, enabling natural flowing communication for video
conferencing and hands-free speakerphone operation.
As data functions
merge into the cellular handset, integrated speakerphones are essential
for simultaneously talking on the phone and accessing data or viewing
video. Mobile users and network operators are demanding speakerphone
solutions with improved sound quality that also mask echoes and harsh
noise environments. SoundClear software enables natural conversation
and simultaneous access to voice, data, and video for improved speakerphone
performance.
“As the
3G cellular marketplace continues to grow, voice quality remains a
critical factor for success,” said Sam Thomasson, Acoustic Technologies
CEO. “SoundClear software raises the bar for video conferencing
and hands-free operation performance in today’s 3G-enabled devices
by providing flexible speakerphone capabilities that enhance the overall
mobile user experience. Our solution enables natural-flowing speakerphone
operation that will help propel mobile conferencing in the business
environment and create greater demand for 3G services worldwide. Acoustic
Technologies is proud to work with Motorola to provide the highest
quality voice technology for their 3G mobile phones.”
With
full-duplex control, SoundClear optimizes speech intelligibility in
cellular applications and adaptively monitors, detects, and processes
incoming voice, echo, and noise signal power levels. This eliminates
the misunderstanding that comes from syllable or word clipping. By
providing a combination of echo cancellation, bi-directional noise
reduction, and sound enhancement along with sophisticated monitoring
and control algorithms, SoundClear software maximizes listener experience
while minimizing distortion. In addition, the software also adapts
quickly to changing environments and enables natural communication
flow - similar to a face-to-face conversation – which is especially
helpful for video and speaker modes on mobile devices.
SoundClear
software is initially expected to be available on Motorola’s
A1000 and E1000 3G mobile phones. The SoundClear software supports
both single and multi-speaker implementations and is compliant with
3GPP, G.167, and G.168 standards.
