Wireless Video Service in Taiwan

18th August 2003

US : Thin Multimedia, Inc., a world leader in wireless video streaming solutions, announced that Asia Pacific Broadband Wireless Communications, Inc. (APBW) has deployed the first commercial, wireless video service in Taiwan using Thin Multimedia's mobile video technology. APBW is a new wireless carrier providing CDMA 3G cellular service in Taiwan.

APBW cited the high video quality, reliability and Thin Multimedia's many successful commercial deployments with world's leading carriers among the reasons it chose Thin Multimedia's Thin Client Media (TCM) video solutions. APBW is offering its subscribers a range of video services, including multiple categories of video-on-demand, video match-making, video mail and traffic monitoring. The traffic monitoring service allows subscribers to watch real-time traffic videos on their mobile phones, captured by an initial network of 42 cameras taping at the most congested areas in Taiwan.

Prima Lin, vice president in marketing at APBW, said, "APBW is extremely pleased to offer its subscribers the most advanced and attractive video services, which improve the overall quality and richness of our offerings. Thin Multimedia's technology is enabling our customers to enjoy a truly unique set of video offerings."

"So far, wireless multimedia applications have been primarily limited to entertainment," said Dale Park, president of Thin Multimedia. "APBW is taking wireless video to a new level by addressing real customer needs, such as traffic monitoring. Thin Multimedia is thrilled to play a pioneering role in helping to develop a new market with our technology."
