New rumours suggest that Google will launch a new and improved version of the Nexus 7 in July. The tablet will have an improved specification and will still be made by Asus.
Google look set to launch a new and improved version of the Nexus 7 tablet in July. The second-generation tablet will be made by Asus, who also produced the best-selling original version of Google's tablet.
The Nexus 7 changed the tablet market by offering value far beyond anything previously available. Google sell their tablets at cost and make money from adverts featured on the device, which is a similar model that Amazon adopt with their Kindle Fire range.
How will the new Nexus 7 improve on the original ?
The 2nd generation Nexus 7 will apparently have a higher resolution 7 inch display. We presume that'll mean a 1920*1080 pixel (1080p) resolution , because the version currently on sale runs at 1280*720 pixels (720p).
Google's new Nexus 7 will be thinner than the original, while it'll also have a smaller bezel surrounding it's display. This should give it an even more premium appearance and reduce the size of the tablet significantly.
Apparently, Asus will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the next Nexus 7 , replacing the Nvidia Tegra 3 chip included in the original. We presume it'll launch running Android Key Lime Pie and could even be the device to debut the new operating system !
We'll let you know as soon as we hear more about the new Nexus 7, including whether it'll be priced as competitively as the first-generation Nexus 7.
