Europe : Cystelcom Sistemas, a leading supplier of 3G mobile video solutions, announced today the availability of Veedia™ 3G Location-Based Services (LBS), interactive mobile search services that enable 3G users to use their mobile phones to quickly find local businesses, interact with Google Maps results or even directly contact a business.

With Veedia 3G LBS, mobile search is easy and immediate, as it is carried out by placing a standard video call to a dedicated number. Users instantly access a self-service application and navigate visual menus that enable them to enter their location and select the type of business or service they are looking for (i.e. restaurants, ATMs, pharmacies).

The mobile service can be enhanced by the use of location aware services where, end-users have the option to send a SMS to activate the service—and without the need for GPS—the system automatically detects the user’s position based on the location of their mobile phone.

When 3G users search for a business, Veedia 3G LBS deliver the results integrated in an interactive Google Map. End-users conveniently see all results displayed visually on one screen. Each business is marked by a green balloon and a corresponding number, while a red balloon indicates the end-user’s location.

By using the keypad on their phone, mobile users not only can navigate and view business search results from Google Maps, but they also can interact with businesses. Veedia 3G LBS give businesses the option to enable real time one-to-one contact with potential customers through interactive call-to-actions during the video call. Based on client objectives, the possibilities for interaction are endless. For example, mobile users could view a promotional video, send a video message, connect to a video portal, or even initiate bi-directional audio and video communication with the business—all without having to end the video call.

Video calling provides businesses with an extraordinary opportunity to connect with potential customers and capture data in real time. While consumers interact with the application, Veedia 3G LBS collect valuable information about what users do—such as if they viewed the video, how long they viewed it, if they opted to connect with the business, and more.

“Veedia 3G LBS provide high-value mobile services for on-the-go users when they need it most—like being able to find a place to sleep or eat while on the road—and even allows them to connect with the establishment in real time during the course of the video call,” commented Manuel Cuenca Vélez, CEO of Cystelcom.

“Veedia 3G LBS have a broad range of applications, in areas as diverse as entertainment and hospitality to banking and social networking, and enable businesses to connect with customers in a new and interactive way,” added Cuenca.
Veedia 3G LBS work on any 3G enabled handset and require no special client or software. Customers of all sizes have an easy way to expand the range of applications for 3G users and get new mobile services to market quickly, with zero integration and no extra development.
