T-Mobile Launch Yahoo Mobile Search
9th April , 2008

Europe : T-Mobile has announced the launch of Yahoo! oneSearch, Yahoo!’s mobile search service, on T-Mobile’s web’n’walk Internet service. Yahoo! oneSearch is specifically designed for mobile users and quickly and easily delivers relevant results and instant answers to search queries, removing the need to navigate through PC-like Web links.

T-Mobile, a leading light in the development of the mobile Internet, and the Internet pioneer Yahoo! announced a partnership to pool their mobile Internet expertise to the benefit of T-Mobile customers in February 2008. Together, they are leading the mobile Internet industry.

Smart search engine
oneSearch — key to Yahoo!’s goal of becoming the leading starting point for consumers — provides search results optimized for mobile, drawing on content from various sources to deliver a wealth of information in a quick and easy format. oneSearch understands your query intent and, where this functionality has been enabled, remembers location, giving you results tailored to wherever you are. Results will appear on one page – conveniently grouped into key categories – so finding instant answers and relevant information is simple.

oneSearch usage examples

  1. A traveller looking for flight information can enter their flight number into oneSearch and will immediately receive the latest update including details of any delays and gate numbers. With the federated search, additional contextual information such as the weather at the destination, hotel information and images will also be shown.
  2. A thirsty shopper looking for ‘coffee’ will be returned results broken down into helpful categories, including details of related internet and mobile internet sites, news and suggestions for related search terms. In near future information on the nearest coffee shops will also be available.

From Yahoo! features like Finance and Answers, to Eurosport, Wikipedia, flight information and the latest news headlines – consumers will find information that is current, comprehensive, accurate and easy to navigate.

“Our strategic partnership with Yahoo! is an important boost for mobile internet and further strengthens our position as the market leading innovator“, says Christopher Schläffer, Group Product & Innovation Officer of Deutsche Telekom. “Our goal is to make mobile internet access easier, faster and more comfortable. Internet users can now directly access the best mobile search service on the world wide web wherever and whenever they choose.“
