Europe Austria : Following the Austrian network integration of HSUPA with upload speeds of up to 1.4 Mbit/s by innovations leader mobilkom austria, the mobile operator now introduces the first hardware worldwide making actual use of this technology possible. And the new A1 BROADBAND tariffs allow lightning-fast, super-affordable Internet surfing.
aster Uploads: First Hardware Worldwide for HSUPA
The Vodafone Mobile Connect USB-Modem 7.2 not only supports HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) with download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbit/s, thanks to HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) it is simultaneously also the only hardware worldwide to make fast upload speeds of up to 1.4 Mbit/s possible. When it comes to uploading, HSUPA is up to 22 times faster than UMTS, thereby offering the ideal foundation for successful mobile working. This new technology allows attachments such as photos, videos or company presentations to be uploaded in seconds. The USB modem can be ordered as of 4 April 2007 through the A1 Online Shop at http://shop.a1.net, and will be available in all A1 SHOPS or through retailers beginning in May 2007. Also to be introduced in May 2007 is the HSUPA-capable Vodafone Mobile Connect Card 7.2. Both the USB modem as well as the data card will be available beginning at EUR 49.00 with first-time registration.
Faster Downloads: Software Upgrade for HSDPA 7.2
mobilkom austria began the rollout of HSDPA with up to 7.2 Mbit/s in February 2007 in order to meet customer demand for higher download speeds, allowing A1 customers to surf 18 times faster than with UMTS. Through a simple software upgrade those who already own a Vodafone Mobile Connect USB modem can now take advantage of speeds of up to 7.2 Mbit/s. The software is also MacOS compatible and is available at no cost from www.A1.net/usbmodem. Customers who already own a Vodafone Mobile Connect Card 3.6 will also be able to upgrade these to HSDPA 7.2 beginning in May 2007.
