ASIA : Pantech, one of the world’s leading mobile communications groups - comprised of Pantech&Curitel Communications, Inc., Pantech Co., Ltd. and Pantech C&I Inc. (“Pantech” hereafter) - has just unveiled the PH-S6000 phone, which is being billed as the “next generation” in interactive mobile technology. The PH-S6000 is among the first phones to feature the innovative 1mm technology, designed by SK Telecom, which allows mobile users to access a range of services, such as messaging and games, by speaking to interactive characters shown on the display of the phone. Dr. Moon S. Song, President & CEO of Pantech&Curitel Communications, Inc., said: “We believe that the PH-S6000 represents a major step forward in mobile technology, in terms of allowing users to interact with a ‘cyber secretary’ on their phones to access various functions and to organize their daily schedules”. “In many ways, the PH-S6000 truly represents the next generation in interactive mobile technology, insofar as users can now use their phones for a wide range of applications by just speaking to the character on the display,” said Dr. Song. Along with 1mm, the PH-S6000 is fully equipped with other sophisticated features, such as dual flash camera, AAC (advanced audio coding) camcorder and GIGA (graphic instruction graphic acceleration) functionality. In addition, the phone supports Bluetooth 3D gaming technology. The sliding phone also allows users to leave ‘mobile post its’ - animated personal reminders - on the display screen. Other capabilities include an online direction finding service, and the capacity for users to transfer data from PCs to the handset.
