To support the recent launch of its 3G enabled services, which allow subscribers to make video calls, download music and videos, SmarTone replaced its legacy billing system with Convergys' Infinys(TM) Geneva platform to handle rating and billing for its existing mobile services and its new 3G offering. SmarTone selected LogicaCMG as its systems integration partner for the delivery and data migration project. The implementation at SmarTone is the first 3G billing migration project in Asia and the third successful delivery of the Infinys(TM) Geneva system by LogicaCMG in Asia. Stephen Chau, chief technology officer of SmarTone, said: "We are committed to delivering an enhanced customer experience in the continuing evolution of multimedia services. A new billing solution with an open architecture that can be tightly integrated with our CRM systems and that can enable us to bring offers to the market quickly is crucial to us. LogicaCMG has helped us to make this happen - and we relied on its industry expertise, with its messaging and billing solutions deployed by 300 of the world's top operators in over 130 countries. " Boudewijn Pesch, vice president of global telecoms, LogicaCMG in Asia, said: "The cornerstone of our offering is risk control. Operators facing large-scale business support system (BSS) projects that involve the migration of large volumes of data from mission-critical billing systems need to know that their data is in safe hands. LogicaCMG's expertise and success in terms of both data migration and the implementation of Geneva is unparalleled in the industry. Completing projects on time and with the highest delivery quality is critical to the success of any systems integration project. The SmarTone project reaffirms our position as an industry leader in highly complex solution deliveries for communications providers and as a reputable technology partner." "This implementation gave Convergys an opportunity to work with an innovative industry leader like SmarTone and enables our Infinys software to play a significant role in the proliferation of 3G enabled services in the Asia Pacific region," said Steve Robertson, President, Convergys' Information Management Group, International. "With Infinys, SmarTone has the billing and rating flexibility necessary to stay ahead of its competition by being able to offer its customers the newest and most creative mobile content services." SmarTone also currently use LogicaCMG's Short Message Service Centre (SMSC) to support its growing volume of SMS traffic in Hong Kong and Macau. |
