60,000 Outlets Sell ThreePay Vouchers for 3G in UK

27th April , 2004

Europe : 3, the UK's first video mobile network, announced today it will be selling ThreePay vouchers in 60,000 outlets in the UK from early May. In just two months, 3 has achieved a rapid rollout with distribution agreements in place with the four leading top-up providers; e-pay, PayPoint, Omega Logic/EPOSS and Alphyra.

ThreePay is the first pay-as-you-go tariff from a UK mobile operator to offer customers the same great value as contract, under the headline "if you top-up more than once a month you'd be better off with ThreePay."* With today's announcement customers can now top-up on ThreePay in outlets such as The Post Office, The Carphone Warehouse, Esso service stations, The Link, Phones4U, BP and shops where you see the industry standard "top-up" sign. 3 continues to expand successfully and is in negotiations with other retailers to further extend its ThreePay distribution network.

Graeme Oxby, Marketing Director, 3 said: "By launching ThreePay we are challenging the status quo in the UK market. We're the first network operator to offer pay-as-you-go customers the same great value as contract customers. With these distribution agreements our ThreePay vouchers are available right across the UK. Whether you're popping into your local Post Office or doing your weekly shop, with over 60,000 places selling ThreePay vouchers, topping up with 3 couldn't be easier."

Marc Allera, Sales Director, 3, commented: "We've been very pleased with the launch of ThreePay, we're seeing strong demand which continues to surpass our expectations. 3 is the most advanced mobile network in the UK and with 60,000 UK top-up points, we're continuing to challenge the old networks at every level. ThreePay ensured March was our most successful month to date and momentum is building through all our shops, resulting in increased sales and customer activity."

In addition to the 60,000 outlets selling ThreePay vouchers, customers will soon be able to top-up online or via their video mobile using a credit or debit card.

*Based on a top-up of £20 per month.
