3G Test Equipment Order

9th April 2003

US & Taiwan : Tektronix announced a multi-unit sale of its protocol testers during its recently ended quarter to Taiwan Cellular Corporation (TCC), Taiwan's largest network operator, for use in networks across Taiwan.

With an order totaling more than $700,000 USD, TCC has purchased Tektronix K1297-G20 protocol testers to improve the effectiveness of its network operations. The operator will use the new tools to solve maintenance and troubleshooting challenges as its network evolves from current generation to next-generation.

"Tektronix' K1297-G20 simplifies our network integration efforts by providing one platform to track all protocol activity network-wide, thereby reducing costs and enhancing our competitiveness," said Dr. Bill Ko, Deputy Director, System Network Department, Taiwan Cellular Corporation. "We are confident our purchase from Tektronix will drive us to a successful future."

"TCC will use Tektronix' K1297-G20 to integrate existing and emerging network technologies, resulting in a successful transition to revenue-generating next-generation networks," said Bob Agnes, Vice President, Monitoring and Protocol Test, Tektronix, Inc. "With Tektronix' leading platform that addresses nearly 900 protocols, TCC now has the widest range of support to move their networks to the next plateau."

About the K1297-G20 Protocol Analyzer
The K1297-G20 protocol tester is a modular platform for monitoring, simulating and emulating network traffic. The instrument's broad selection of interface modules and software packages allows testing of interfaces in mobile, core and access networks. Moreover, users can customize protocols for their own specific needs. The K1297-G20 connects non-intrusively to a signaling network to monitor activity on one or more remote nodes anywhere in the network.
