Pac-Man Comes To European Wireless Users

8th April 2003

Europe : Pac-Man, the '80's arcade classic, whose popularity was such that it created a yen coin shortage in Japan, and Galaxian, the seminal video game which was the first to use a colour display when it was launched in 1979, will shortly be available to European mobile phone gamers in retail packs. The development follows a European wide agreement to distribute the games via retail packs announced today between Digital Bridges, a world leader in mobile entertainment solutions and Namco Europe, a subsidiary of the Japanese games company responsible for creating both Pac-Man and Galaxian.

The partnership with Namco reinforces Digital Bridges' retail packs distribution channel, in which the company was an early mover with the launch of its first game pack titles in the UK market in November 2002. "This deal with Namco adds significant value to the Digital Bridges' branded JavaTM games retail packs portfolio," said Brian Greasley, CEO of Digital Bridges. "The range of arcade, sports, film and other titles we are today bringing to mobile phones, including now the Namco titles, have in aggregate generated over $2 billion dollars worldwide on other gaming formats. With titles like Galaxian and Pac-Man - the latter which sold an unprecedented 100,000 arcade machines in North America alone - now joining the portfolio, we are in a very strong position to make retail a powerful consumer channel for mobile java games"

The Namco games packs will be available from retail outlets in Digital Bridges' key European markets starting in the second quarter of 2003. Further game titles will be added in due course.
