Hutchison 3G Selects the Starbase Collaboration Suite for Network Development
25th April, 2002

Starbase Corporation , the leading provider of end-to-end collaborative products for both the development and management of content and code for enterprise and eBusiness applications, today announced that Hutchison 3G UK Limited (Hutchison 3G), has selected the Starbase Collaboration Suite to manage the development of its third generation network.

The Starbase Collaboration Suite, comprising of StarTeam Elite, CaliberRM and Mercury Interactive Corporation's TestDirector(R), has been deployed by Hutchison 3G in the UK and in other Hutchison Whampoa 3G companies in Europe. It will then be deployed on Hutchison Whampoa 3G networks worldwide.

Hutchison 3G's initial purchase of Starbase's Collaboration Suite will enable over 2,000 people worldwide to manage software requirements, configuration, change management, defect tracking, testing and test management for voice and data systems that make up the 3G standard.

Ed Candy, technology director at Hutchison 3G stated, "What we are doing here is completely new and it was important to choose a supplier with a robust and proven technology. Starbase has an excellent reputation and can deliver the scalability and flexibility required to provide this important piece of software for our network."

"The Hutchison 3G purchase is one of the largest in the history of Starbase and clearly substantiates that our value proposition is being well received in the software configuration management marketplace," stated James H. Smith, executive vice president, Starbase Customer Group. "With StarTeam Elite and our expanded product offerings, we have become a strategic solutions provider for larger organizations and are now able to meet the enterprise needs for projects of this size and scope.

"Starbase's Professional Services group has been working closely with Hutchison 3G on a long term engagement to help ensure a successful implementation process," continued Smith. "The Starbase Collaboration Suite will enable Hutchison 3G to exert greater control over its entire development process and help them to achieve increased development speed and improved application quality. These controls are prime examples of the benefits that an integrated and unified development process can deliver to today's global enterprises. We're very pleased to be working with Hutchison 3G and look forward to a long and productive relationship with the company as the solution is adopted worldwide."
