Motorola released the first Android tablet - assuming the five-inch Dell Streak is a large phone. The Xoom launched in April 2011, in 3G and Wi-Fi-only versions and on version 2.3 Gingerbread. A few months later, Google acquired its mobile division, though so far, no Google tablets have been seen – or even rumoured.
Instead, Motorola has focused on releasing software updates for its Xoom tablet in line with the regular upgrades to the Android OS. Motorola is actually one of the more prolific Android tablet manufacturers, with seven-inch and ten-inch versions of the Xoom 2, and lots of preloaded software extras for its tablets, including MotoCast for wireless media sharing.
