Sony Xperia Z1 Mini is a compact version of Sony's flagship Xperia Z1.
Sony have released some stunning smartphones over the last year including the recently unveiled Sony Xperia Z1. The Xperia Z1 is the Japanese company's newest flagship smartphone which has a 5 inch display and an amazing 20.7 mega-pixel camera.
Now it looks like they'll launch a more compact version of the Xperia Z1 later this year , which will fittingly be called the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini.
Rumours suggest it'll have a smaller 4.3 inch display running at a resolution of 1280*720 pixels (720p) - compared to the Xperia Z1's 5 inch 1080p display. Even though it runs at a lower resolution to the Xperia Z1 Mini it will still have a pixels-per-inch rating of 341 - still an incredibly sharp display.
A smaller display drains much less power, so Sony have replaced the Xperia Z1's 3000 mAh battery with a smaller and lighter 2400 mAh battery. The rest of the smartphone's specification will be almost identical to its bigger brother. That means the Xperia Z1 Mini specs will include a 20.7 mega-pixel camera with the Sony G Lens, a 2.2 Ghz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board memory.
We don't have any details on the design of the smartphone, but we presume it'll be just as thin as its bigger brother (8.5mm). We also see no reason why it shoudn't be waterproof and dustproof , which has quickly become standard on Sony's Xperia smartphones.
There are a whole group of consumers out there who don't want an "over-sized" 5 inch smartphone but are still interested in a high-end smartphone. Currently, they might consider buying an Apple's iPhone 5 or a HTC's One Mini and now it looks like they'll have another smartphone to consider.
We'll bring you more news about the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini when we get it !
